Amy Cheng
'CAMU CAMU" is a limited edition white, red and blue flower print by Amy Cheng

2016

About the Item

"CAMU CAMU" is a limited edition pigment print of an oil painting on canvas by Amy Cheng. It is part of a Mandala Series, a group of iconic works that contain circles, spheres, transparency, layering, pattern, repetition, and ornamentation. Sumptuous, intricate, ornamented, these prints are richly referential — they call to mind a range of associations from mandalas, the cosmos, cells, lace, brocade and more. I feel aligned with the long history of geometric and floral ornamentation the Far Eastern, Middle Eastern, and European craftsmen have long employed. They did so with the implicit understanding that pattern and repetition, which are endemic in nature, are primal in their rhythmic connection to the human nervous system. The artist Thomas Lyon Mills describes the works from my Mandala series as "Worlds within worlds with the aim of revealing profound, contemplative, slow truths." The image size is 30"H x 30" W and is bordered by 3" white paper all around. This white space should be preserved even if covered by a matte during framing in order to maintain the needed breathing room around the image. The image is printed using archival pigment ink on Moab Entrada Natural, 290 gsm, acid free 100% rag fine art paper.
