Aiveen Daly Ribbon Sculpture
About the Item
Contemporary textile artist, Aiveen Daly has launched her debut series of personal work ‘Coralation’ inspired by oceanic life. These unique ribbon sculptures are meditative, delicate artworks painstakingly hand pleated and manipulated using FSC certified Italian ribbon.
The technique takes its inspiration from the fine lines of vintage Japanese woodblock prints. The ‘Coralation’ series uses thousands of metres of sustainable Enka viscose ribbon painstakingly laid in continuous, correlating, rhythmic circles. In keeping with Daly’s signature aesthetic, the work is unrivalled in its quiet simplicity, sensitivity, and sophistication.
Daly is very physically engaged with the ribbons. Millimetre by millimetre, strand by strand the work has been a total manual meditation absorbing her in her light-filled studio for several weeks. Her large pieces comprise of over 10,000 meandering, hand sculpted curves. Providing a sophisticated backdrop suited to both traditional and modern interiors the ‘Coralation’ series has drawn attention from high profile interior designers.
The artist is a pioneer in the design sector, having built a reputation amongst architects and interior designers over the past 17 years. She has a loyal following and is the textile artist of choice for the finest luxury textile art, fabric manipulation, and sculptural leatherwork, all crafted in London.
The piece is mounted on to a backboard which is wrapped in novasuede and has a hook for hanging on the wall. The mounting board is a couple of centimetres smaller than the artwork so that it gives the appearance of floating.

Aiveen Daly
Aiveen Daly is one of London’s leading textile artists working with flawless precision in silk, wool and leather. Her soft, meditative style lends an almost ethereal quality to her art. Her delicate works are both beautifully intricate and highly tactile, featuring exquisite embroidery and beadwork, and sculptural leatherwork. Aiveen works with many of the world’s most distinguished designers and architects to create the custom statement artworks. She has partnered with designers on a number of award-winning projects including Katharine Pooley and acclaimed yacht designer Winch Design. Her extensive expertise, coupled with the skill of her multi-disciplinary team enables her to choose precisely the right aesthetic and techniques for each commission. From London to Shanghai to New York, her works grace the walls of many of the world’s most prestigious residences, royal palaces, commercial properties (including the Corinthia London and The Langham Hong Kong) superyachts and private jets. Aiveen discovered her love for textiles as a teenager growing up in Cork, Ireland when she was given a sewing machine for her 14th birthday. Over the years Aiveen has lived all over the world including in St Petersburg and Sydney, gleaning inspiration from her travels. On moving to London, Aiveen embraced sewing and textiles at London College of Fashion and drawing and painting classes at Central St Martins. It was however a professional upholstery course that introduced her to interiors.
This is an individual artwork but custom commissions can be made with varying sizes, colours and shapes.
