Strata Cabinet by SNICKERIET Dimensions: D 40 x W 125 x H 115,7 cm. Materials: Oak veneer, solid oak, lacquer and wax. Smaller size adjustments are accepted without additional cost. By manipulating wood grain patterns, Strata captures an expression in between the organic and the man-made. The surface consists of tangential layers of oak, veneered at an angle on top of each other, and carefully sanded down into a pattern inspired by the veining of sedimentary rock. The combination of wood grain patterns and stone vein formations creates a mesmerizing texture that draws the mind toward root or burl wood, yet is distinctly different through its repetition and distortion. The technique developed has its roots in conventional intarsia inlay, but in order to find an expression more organic and naturally occurring, the graphical nature of cut-out veneering has been replaced by an extensive process of sanding down transitions between overlapping veneers. Continuing the approach of interpreted nature; all angles, shapes, and proportions of the cabinet relate to pi and the golden ratio. The subsurface of Strata is prepared to compensate for the irregularities caused by the sanding, resulting in a perfectly flush surface. Frank Cabinet by SNICKERIET Dimensions: D 34,8 x W 82,8 x H 156,2 cm. Materials: Acrylic glass, maple wood and brass. Adjustments can be discussed as long as furniture archetype is maintained. Please contact us. Frank is the result of exploring woodworking techniques on transparent acrylic, resulting in a vitrine cupboard that fully exposes its construction. Fittings, fasteners, joinery and locking mechanisms are fully displayed and can be observed from within the material itself. The dovetailed acrylic casing resting on the Swedish maple frame gives the piece an airy prescience that both highlights and protects its content. Kontra acts as a depiction of the forces at play in a cantilever construction. The piece gives off a modest impression but unveils its complexity as its architecture becomes apparent. Available to customize in various wood types. Please contact us. Trilit is a vivacious exaggeration of a simple wood joint, naively distorting a rational solution into a complex craft. The bulging contours make the piece seem upholstered or inflated and give a playful impression that encourages interaction. Such semblance however, is put in contrast to its rigidity and weight. Trilit is intended to be used as an occasional stool and is made out of carefully selected solid Douglas fir wood.
