18th-19th Century Neoclassical Colonial Padauk Glazed Ebonized Book Case

About the Item

A fine and unusual Colonial glazed book case, reeded architectural column supports with neoclassical capitals, tapered and turned reeded legs terminating in well cast bronze lion paws. Two slender drawers with lion faced pull handles, arched glazed double doors. We have added three reeded internal shelves that are easily adjustable to desired height. The piece has been constructed in padauk wood a typical material used in colonial furniture, the piece comes apart in three section for ease of movement. The original ebonized finish has areas of wear and loss, paint residue to the reeded columns. Age related oxidization to all metal sections in very much untouched original condition, circa 1800. Measures: 63cm in depth, 124cm in width, 191cm in height.
