About the Item
Original Tübingen chair from the 1930s by Prof. Adolf Gustav Schneck for Schäfer. Made in Germany.
Seat made of red beech slats. All parts glued and inserted. No metal screws.
The Tübingen chair was produced for decades by the Schäfer chair and furniture factory in Tübingen.
At the end of the 1920s, the architect and designer Prof. Adolf Gustav Schneck of the Kunstgewerbeschule Stuttgart was commissioned to develop a chair design for Schäfer.
It became a prototype of the new objectivity. Beautiful minimalist design.
Due to its robustness it became street furniture for restaurants and event locations.
The offered chair is in very good original condition. No damages. Not wobbly.
With the original manufacturer's label and another sticker for the care of the chair.
A design icon from the 1930s with a lot of history. Also exhibited in the city museum of Tübingen Germany.
Rare to find in this very good condition.
Ready to live in condition. Suitable for all living spaces and very decorative.

Entstanden sind die Modelle A 63 (Sessel) und A 63/F (Armlehnstuhl). Ob es eine Konkurrenz zwischen den beiden Architekten gab, geht aus der Literatur leider nicht hervor. Schneck bildete jedoch Franks Modelle in seinem Buch „Der Stuhl” aus dem Jahre 1928 ohne Namensangabe ab. Interessant wurde Schnecks seltener Entwurf (A 63) aufgrund der Verwendung für die Inneneinrichtung des Wohnhauses Nr. 5 (Haus Häring) der Werkbundsiedlung in Wien, geplant von Architekten Hugo Häring...Category
