Delft Blue Boch Frères Keramis Table Lamps, 1969-1979, Red Satin Shades

About the Item

Meet Scarlet and Rhett! These one-of-a-kind lamps have been lovingly handcrafted from two vintage vases designed by Boch Frères Keramis in La Louviere, Belgium for Royal Sphinx (formerly Petrus Regout) in Maastricht, the Netherlands. Paired with contemporary red satin lampshades with gold inner lining, along with matching red cords, they have an vibrant yet classic look. The vases that form the base of the lamps were made between 1969-1979, as indicated by the “Made for Royal Sphinx by Boch, Delfts” mark on the bottom. The underglaze decoration was applied by hand by means of transfer print: a method in which a monochrome print of the design on paper—from an engraved copper or steel plate—was transferred on to the vase by pressing it onto the ceramic piece. This process allowed for the production of incredibly detailed items, which would have been impossible to produce by hand-painting. They are a beautiful dark blue, unique to the Delftware produced by Petrus Regout & Co. and Royal Sphinx . Height: 48 cm (18.9 in) with lampshade Width: 30 cm (11.8 in) with lampshade E27 bulb fitting will work with US E26 bulbs; we can change the plugs depending on the country you will use them in.

Founded in 1841, it markets its products under the name Keramis. The factory was founded in 1841 by Eugène and Victor Boch, descendants of a family of earthenware makers since the 18th century. Production, which began in 1844, grew rapidly. Kéramis took part in the Universal Exhibition in Paris. During the 19th century, Dutch craftsmen were hired.
