Customizable Hand-Painted Ceramic "Cobalt Totem" Lamp by James Hicks
About the Item
The "Cobalt Totem" table lamp features a sleek rectangular base, slip-cast in stoneware, with six linear rectangular openings strategically placed to allow dimmable LED light to illuminate the surrounding space. The faces of the base are adorned with circles hand-painted in cobalt oxide.
The shown prototype showcases cobalt oxide, though additional custom options are available (optionally any cover underglaze, oxide or slip can be used for the painting). The base shown in the photos is glazed with a clear glaze with a gloss finish; optionally, the glaze can be a glossy or matte clear glaze or even left under-glazed (which can be very nice). It comes equipped with hardware and wiring for an E26 bulb, available in nickel or brass finish.

James Hicks is a versatile designer, artist, and architect with over 25 years of professional experience. With a professional Bachelor's of Architecture from The Cooper Union and study in artisanal ceramics at Ecole Duperre in Paris, James brings a unique blend of architectural precision and artistic craftsmanship to his work. James' work as a designer has taken him to various corners of the globe, including Vietnam, India, Jordan, the United States, and Canada. He designs all his products and makes most of them with his own hands. He launched Amalgam-Worldwide to foster and focus his work at the scale of the tabletop.
Can be made using different oxides (iron, cobalt, copper, etc.), with different motifs and with clear matte or glossy transparent glazes. Or with no glaze.
