Artist Information:
Jaye Kim is a Korean-American ceramic artist living and working in Brooklyn, NY. Her ceramic work is an exploration of her interior world regarding the symbolism and rituals of motherhood. Depicting the mundane objects Kim interacts with daily in a ginormous scale, from cups and saucers to skincare face masks and cabbages, the ordinary is transformed into the interpersonal. In her oversized hand-built vessels, surface details derived from her coiling and pinching emerge to tell a story about our everyday domestic objects, highlighted by delicate lusters and stunning, saturated glaze work.
