Chinese Porcelain Dish, Famille Rose, c. 1740, Qianlong Period

About the Item

Chinese porcelain, famille rose dish, c. 1740, Qianlong Period. Finely painted in fencai enamels, with an hexagonal panel, containing an arrangement of a vase of flowers on a stand, before scrolls, a sceptre, and a fan, resting upon a further stand. The frame of the panel, painted in iron red, and having a continuous gilt whorl motif; further embellished with elaborate floral vine. The border with a repeated floral scroll, and scroll motif, which laps over a narrow yellow ground border, painted with leaf scroll, divided by iron red and gilt flower heads. The reverse painted with lingzhi mushrooms in iron red, around a burnt orange, unglazed footrim. Diameter – 25.6 cm, 10”. Condition: Very minor wear to the enamel, commensurate with the age of the plate. No restoration.
