New Jacques Fath Paris Sheer Black Demi-Couture Linen Lingerie Skirt - M, 1990s
About the Item
One of the demigods of French Haute Couture in the 1950s, Jacques Fath tragically died at age 42. Renowned for his interpretation of New Look silhouettes, the quality of his workmanship was only rivaled by contemporaries like Christian Dior and Pierre Balmain. His clothing label was resurrected in 1996 but survived less than a decade, so Fath's contemporary pieces are almost as hard to find as his vintage ones. This picture-perfect skirt is a rare example, and features demi-couture details like hand-finishing, delicate grosgrain and lace, and luxury-quality linen that provides fullness without bulk.
A-Line skirt with narrow grosgrain waistband and nine gores around skirt circumference for extra fullness; 1 ½” scalloped lace trim around hemline. Rear slit opening with hook and eye closure at top; signature hanging loops. Unlined.
