Jill Richards, the California designer of this fabulous 1970's cocktail dress, had the well earned nickname of 'Ruffles Richards' with both a flair for drama and flattering silhouettes. The dress is fabricated from a rich chocolate brown satin fabric which is expertly cut to provide a fitted torso yielding to a voluminous skirt featuring hidden side pockets (love a hidden pockets in cocktail wear!). The lovely sleeves provide a gentle pouff at the shoulder with a skinny fit to the ruffled cuff. It zips and hooks at the back with a stitched in organza lining in the skirt and acetate lining in the bodice. Cheers to 'Ruffles Richards'! CONDITION There are small belt loops at the side though the original belt is missing in action ... you can add your own though the loops could easily be removed and the dress is stunning without it. Overall the dress is in very good condition with little or no signs of wear though there is a dark line of spots near the front right pocket which is shown in photograph 11. They are very difficult to see both due to the volume of the skirt as well as the dark color of the fabric. SIZING & MEASUREMENTS Marked a size 6 though it best fits U.S. sizes 2 - 4 with attention to the following measurements. It sports a small waist and torso measurement, in fact, it was a tad too small for the stiff size 4 mannequin shown in the photographs. Probably best for those that do not mind a restrictive bodice.
