1996 Thierry Mugler Couture Archival Black White Futuristic Strapless Mini Dress

About the Item

An iconic and truly timeless Thierry Mugler 1996 spring-summer collection strapless mini dress. This legendary French fashion designer is known for bold fashion and edgy, sometimes even campy, theatricality. Though Mugler stopped designing his couture and ready-to-wear lines in 2003 to focus on photography and costume design, his work has a lasting legacy. This seductive black and white block-color dress is a perfect example of his genius. Not only is this number unforgettable; it is true wearable art. I love the geometric space-age strapless bodice which flows into a folded back three-dimensional design which snaps into place. The nipped waist seamlessly flows into a figure flattering sculpted mini skirt. A rare collector's piece. Measurements-marked a size 36 Bust: 32-34 inches Waist: 24-26 inches Hips: 36 inches Total Length: 28 inches This 1996 Thierry Mugler designer mini dress is in excellent condition with no rips, holes or alternations. Closes with hidden back zipper, snaps and fully lined in silk. Only sign of wear is some faint surface dirt marks which are not noticeable when worn. Due to the historic nature, we have not tried to clean the piece. Please message for detailed pictures. The level of work in this dress would only be found in the highest couture of today. Highly wearable and an investment piece that will continue to increase in value.
