About the Item

"Metamorphosis" by Frederick Hart is figurative bronze bust of a woman numbered 17/29. “Metamorphosis” was a journey of transformation for Hart. The work haunted and yet thrilled him. The work contained mysteries that had to be solved. It was telling Hart to go further, to seek truths not yet discovered. Then one day a transformation occurred in a flash of brilliant inspiration. With a driving force Hart reworked the piece and there it was — Metamorphosis–the work and the sculptor were one, their journey complete. Hart, like Rodin, took the sculpture to its essence and in turn to its full potential. Her eyes represent the moment full spiritual awakening — the metamorphosis of human consciousness into the ever unfolding realm of Beauty. With “Metamorphosis,” through her eternal beauty, commanding presence and dynamic tension, Frederick Hart invites us to seek our own journeys of transformation.
