Published by Nouveau Cercle Parisien du Livre, Paris; printed by Fequet et Baudier, Paris, October 6, 1955. Excerpted from the volume (translated from French), Executed at the request of Ambroise Vollard, the 22 illustrations of Pablo Picasso, engraved on wood by Georges Aubert, were used for the "Nouveau Cercle Parisien du Livre" by Mr. Daniel Sickles and Maxime Denesle, commissioners of the volume. It was taken from this volume two hundred and forty examples, namely: 140 examples, numbered from 1 to 140, reserved for members of the society and its collaborators; 100 examples numbered in roman numerals of I to C. Printing was finished in Paris on October 6, 1955, on the presses of Fequet and Baudier. PABLO PICASSO (1881-1973) Spanish painter and sculptor is one of the most recognized figures of twentieth century art. During his artistic career, which lasted more than 75 years, he created thousands of works using all kinds of mediums. He changed art more profoundly than any other artist of his time. First famous for pioneering cubism, Picasso continued to develop his art with a pace and vitality comparable to the accelerated technological and cultural changes of the twentieth century. Each change embodied a radical idea, and might be said that Picasso lived several artistic lifetimes.
