About the Item
This unique monotype print by Jane McNichol was made during the artist's second visit to Manneken Press in 2005. The monotype was made using oil-based inks and printed on Somerset Satin white paper. The image size is 16.75 x 24 inches and there is a white paper border on all four sides.
McNichol, a New York City-based painter, works en plein aire, from sketches, photographs and memories, producing transcendent paintings, drawings and prints of landscapes and interiors, still lives. Her degrees from Tyler and Temple Universities, a year spent painting in Rome and a stint in the Merchant Marines were important formative experiences. A Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant recipient and Macdowell Fellow, McNichol divides her time between studios in New York City and coastal Maine.

- Waterfall ILocated in Bloomington, ILWith hand-drawn lines overlaying a field of narrow, vertical stripes, Tom Orr’s Waterfall prints capture the sense of movement and space of a cascade. Shimmering moire’ patterns and subtle tonal differentiations between the two sets of lines enhance this dynamic visual phenomenon. Orr has previously explored this theme in different media in gallery-based installations and public sculpture commissions. Tom Orr created the "Waterfall" series of etchings at Manneken Press in 2008. Each of the three prints in the series are hand-printed from two etched copper plates...Category

The overlapping translucent layers create a multitude of addition colors, shapes, and a rich depth. This print on paper is mounted onto cradled wood panel with a protective cold wax coating on the surface. In her creative process, Katherine scans organic material which she then refines into digital files. The images are then then cut out of wood using a laser cutter. Katherine prints the inked wood shapes in combination with cyanotype photograms, in different arrangements making each print unique.
