Mitchell Funk
Fleeting Glance in Fleeting Light - Washington Square Park

2023

About the Item

Veteran Street Photographer Mitchell Funks' signature style is to energize traditional photojournalism/ street photography with overly dramatic light, color, and composition. This work of a passive scene of two people sitting on a park bench has a heightened emotional appeal due to Funk's image-making approach. It tips the balance from a traditional ho-hum street image to an absorbing, emotionally charged street portrait depicted in exaggerated light and color. It's as abstract as it's representational. It's about the relationships of color as much as it's about the relationships of people. It's about fleeting light as much as it's about a fleeting glance. This archival color photograph by fine art photographer Mitchell Funk is signed, dated and numbered 2/15, lower right recto. Other sizes are available and the fine art photograph is unframed and printed later. Printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art paper Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of " Color Photography" In 1970 he participated in one the first " Color Photography" shows at a major museum.
