About the Item
Hugo’s artworks tend to have an “onirical/metaphorical” feel to them. These pieces are the original drawings of the artist's book titled “Recordar el Camino” (remember the way), a work that Lugo produced in a unique way, accompanied by the notes and reflections of the renowned Mexican writer Jorge Volpi. It has been reproduced as a publishing project in a limited edition. Between fiction and reality, they make a non-linear, non-narrative journey through the extensive map of works that the artist has dedicated to exploring the medium -particularly paper- as part of an investigation on the interlacing of surfaces and representation.
The reflection reads “How to take cover from the storm caused by our own voice? How to escape your gale of fear? How to escape a rain of needles?”
The character in this piece is trying to rid himself from a burst of ink lines while shaking a newspaper and covering his face.
