About the Item
BLUE Series:
"People look at these paintings and ask "Do you live by the ocean?" No. I live in New York City. I've lived here most of my life and I've also been an artist since I can remember. My days are filled with tall buildings, cement, elevators, public transportation and lots of people. To me this city is still thrilling and I can’t imagine living anywhere else. When I want to get away, I look up at the sky and my world expands. The sky is accessible, vast, expansive, peaceful, mysterious, and forever changing. This is the journey I take every time I paint. There's nothing more exciting than a blank canvas…and the endless color blue. Painting with blue is my ride through the countryside."
Susan Woldman received her BA Degree from Sarah Lawrence College. After studying sculpture in Lacoste, France through the Cleveland Institute of Art she went on to get her MFA at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.
"I paint on wood because I’m a sculptor at heart and scratching marks on the surface gives me the feeling that I’m building something."
