GABRIELA MEUNIE. Mallorca, 1987. Based in Bordeaux
Franco-American artist Gabriela Meunié started her career as a painter, following her art studies in Mallorca and Barcelona, “Escola Massana”, Art and Design Center.
Influenced by north-American artists like Helen Frankenthaler and Joan Mitchell, Gabriela explores the limits of painting as regards to its ability to reflect complex concepts, in the same way that poetry explores the limits of language.
She explores abstraction using different painting materials in large format works and her painting is part of the Abstract Expressionism current where the spontaneous gesture is highlighted.

Gabriela Meunié Born in Palma de Mallorca (ES) currently living in France (FR)
2010 Escola Massana, Academy of Art, Barcelona Franco-American artist, she grew up surrounded by artists and their way of working and living in the 80s on the Mediterranean island of Mallorca, such the Austrian abstract painter Gottfried Mairwöger, the Mallorquin artist Miquel Barcelo or the Danish artist Lin Utzon. Gabriela Meunié comes from an academic background, specializing in figurative drawing and human anatomy. Once acquired these academic techniques, she has been working for many years in the field of abstract painting. Influenced by north-American artists like Helen Frankenthaler and Joan Mitchell, she believes artist's work has to be constant and regular. Her approach is process oriented and lets us participate in her studio experience. Taking into account that in painting the modification of the technique inevitably leads to the modification of the form.
