Coral brooch. Naples. XIX century

About the Item

Antique Italian Coral brooch. Naples.
XIX century. Total weight 5,60gr. Size 4,2 cm FREE WORLDWIDE SHIPPING Coral engraved and carved in the shape of a flower and leaves, each element is connected with a gold pin to the structure.
Brooch needle in good working order.
Gold, Mediterranean coral from Sciacca.
Manufacture of the region of Naples, Torre del Greco.
The "flowers and fruits" style responds to the naturalistic romantic trend of mid-19th century fashion, continuing with small variations until the Art Nouveau era. Sciacca coral was often used, available at the time at reasonable prices and in large quantities. The technique with small flowers, leaves and flowers also made it possible to exploit the smallest pieces of coral. These small coral bouquets are composed of small elements, hand-made in series, they are fixed to very thin gold pins, which were welded together. Overall good condition. Small shortcomings.
